One of NYC’s Largest Trees Lived in Prospect Park.

After declaring one of the largest trees in Prospect Park NYC dead, The NYC Parks Department and RE-CO BKLYN milled lumber from the tree to make available back to the public and turn into furniture.

The logs had a 89' diameter, so we had to break them down into smaller pieces before we could mill them into lumber.

US company RE-CO BKLYN based in Ridgewood NY and proud owners of two Lucas Mills, were humbled to have been asked by the NYC Parks Department to mill a monster European Elm tree into lumber. At nearly 150 years old and with an 89" diameter, it was one of the largest trees in NYC until it died in 2015. See below YouTube footage showing this challenging project.

Well Done!
